It is an anniversary to propagate and enlighten industrial property rights system established by MITI(Ministry of International Trade and Industry which is presently called as METI: Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry) in 1954. Besides, April 26 was determined to be the day of intellectual property right by WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) in 2000. The numbers of patent application has been increasing in the field of utilized SPS technology especially within last 10 years. It is expected that the trend as such will be accelerated continuously in future. For your reference information, Patent Office of Japan introduced 10 historical inventors in Japan in memory of 100th anniversary of Proclamation of Proprietary.
Prof. Kotaro HONDA of the Institute for Materials Research (IMR) of Tohoku University (The 6th president of Tohoku University) was introduced as one of the Distinguished 10 inventors with his famous invention of "KS-Steel". SPS technology has been propagated and penetrated based on various historical background such as the relationship between "The global invention "KS-Steel" and Sumitomo family", "Dr. Kiyoshi INOUE of Japax Inc., who is inventor on Spark Sintering (SS)method that of an original invention of current SPS and IMR", "Honorary Prof. Toshio HIRAI who is the 1st President of SPS Forum of Japan and IMR". They are symbolizing the ripen profoundity history of Japanese technology.
